Re: Is this an early 60's Ludwig Acrolite?

Good points on the earlier models. My opinion is that the orange peel shell, Imperial lug, round knob muffler was the first. Then I think the next version is also the orange peel shell with bowties...

Re: Is this an early 60's Ludwig Acrolite?

Agree with thin shell. Should be a '69 with that badge placement. I've got one with a serial number and one without. And they too have 12 hole blackface P85 strainers. Ludwig punched these shells for...

Re: You don't see many of these things around anymore, do you?

That may be one of Bill Maley's old videos. I recall him having a 25" at one time. I've had to chance to buy a 23 and a 25 and should have.

Re: Star Midget Kit Saved

Love that kit Skink! Very nice. I'm into that kinda stuff as well. I have a 60's Star Starfield Cocktail kit that I restored. It has the 16" bass but with a 14" snare drum. I really enjoy it. I also...

Re: Ludwig black beauty 79 / 80 advice

1200 CDN was mentioned as a high range estimate. That converts to 883 USD I think. I have not seen many of the 6.5" models sell in this range, Usually much higher....when you can even find one!
