Re: Day late

It's an MIJ snare without the bottom hoop. No bead to be had, and that's the throw off you're seeing.

Re: Opinions: Hawthorne Drum Shop

I've only interacted online through email and social media, never purchased anything, but he and his staff have always been accommodating and informed. I agree that $600 does seem high on that kit. I...

Re: Great Cartoon

I got my first set during that early 2000s period when custom Keller sets really blew up overnight. Like so many others, I had a kit built that was not worth near the amount paid, but fortunately...

Re: Great Cartoon

The image is displaying really small in your post for some reason. Here's a larger one.

Re: Ludwig Downbeat 1965

15 seems high to me. Like has been said, itís a common color and itís not museum quality. Is the snare a Jazz Fest or Pioneer? With a Pioneer I would say 11, but with a Jazz Fest 12.5.

Re: Ludwig Super Classic

Does the buyer know the edges were re-cut? I saw several of your listings stopped mentioning that.

Re: Ludwig 1976 Red-Silver-Blue kit on eBay

Why was that original thread removed? Did people start arguing or are the mods cracking down on that tompeter bot account that started the thread?

Re: Rogers Mardi Gras that got away.

Someone on the DFO says they're being shipped to Florida. I don't know how that lines up with the seller signing people up to view the drums at 6 last night. Only thing I can come up with is...

Yep. The options were copper, brass or chrome plating.

Re: Repairing scratches in '60s Sparkle wrap (Ludwig)

Are those not gouges? I've got a champagne tom with very, very similar looking scratches and I don't think anything would fix it. You can feel the scratches on mine; they're coarse.

Does the...

Re: 1990s Ludwig scratches

Those aren't the correct hole sizes for a Ludwig muffler. The bead also looks funny, as if it has a ridge where it meets the shell, on both the top and bottom of the bead. Does anyone else see...

Man, I would have given anything for George Martin to tell me my snare sounded bad.

An Acrolite, a 402, a Jazz Fest and a 5-inch Black Beauty.

Re: The Most Recorded Snare

BEC didn't say it was settled, he just gave his perspective. Your question is still valid and no one said it isn't.

Re: The Most Recorded Snare

Does anyone know where it came from? Did Ludwig start marketing the drum that way or is it just something enough drummers have said for enough time that now everyone goes with it?

Re: The Most Recorded Snare

I've never heard the Acrolite described that way. Even though there's no way to really know what the most recorded snare of all time is, that person is wrong, just as a matter of expression.

If...

Re: Ludwig timbale help

Neat drum. Looks like one of the brass shells. 14x6, right? The lug mounts look a little low on the drum. Almost made me think it could take a bow tie lug, but I'm sure not.

They should just be...

Re: 1960 Trans Badge Ludwig Blue Note Questions

Cool. Pearl made a couple one-ply shells. Here's another. I know nothing more about them, though.

Re: Beatles Q

You can't trust any of what's in the colorized picture. It's, essentially, a complete fabrication and poorly done. Compare it to a colorization like this by Marina Amaral, an expert, and you'll see...

Re: 1960 Trans Badge Ludwig Blue Note Questions

1. I think they'll be 3/8-inch/9.5mm, Ludwig's standard size for many years. Gibraltar and WorldMax make cheap legs in that size. Ludwig does too, but they'd be more expensive.

2. You could go...
