To remove use bike tube rubber on the inner rim of the timbales or gel tabs but yes it muffles heads. This will eliminate most of it. Also bare in mind the room you are playing may not have proper acoustics and this will also cause a drum to ring. The best way to eliminate the ring totally is by using real Calf Heads this will give you a true sound but they are expensive and you must take very good care of them. UN tune when not in use and keep in a none humid place. Another concept you can use is Remo fiber skins they are a bit thicker than the ambassadors and muffles the ring also. I also have a set of Remo timbales for sale if interested they have remo heads and they ring a bit in sizes 13/14 that are very good timbales. Again i would recommend put calf heads.
