    thnaks again mike,wish the bass drum had a date on it i see the guy makiing it has chalked 22 in large letters on inside, i got rob cooks book on ludwig and i got in touch about the blue paint he hadnt heard of ANY blue paint on bass drums and said it wasnt original even though i told him drums had been bought in the states in early sixties . they also have calf skins on 13 tom and a calf skin on the bass drum that the owner used as abatter head skin has the ludwig logo other skin is opaque. i woulds end you pics but having probs with my e mainls if you wanna get in touch my e mail is and illtry and send pics to you also kit had cases from "quality cases chicago" very old the leather strap burst thansk again take care crawford.

    No, would be hard to know the exact shade. I'd touch them up rather than repainting. Might be able to find something at a craft store. I use black sharpies to cover areas on black hoops. Makes a ton of difference. Some of the early 60's drums had unfinished maple interiors. The center ply is always poplar. The exterior ply is usually mahogany if the drum has a wrap.

    thnaks mike dont suppose you know what shade of blue they used? id like to get my hoops touched up ot re paint as the scrapes spoil the look, also the shell ,mahogany.pop. maple? any ideas? thnaks crawford.
